Juno.... No, I don't know.

I still don't know if I really like the movie. It wasn't as great as I thought it might be, but this one conversation Juno has with her father has kept me from throwing it out completely. The question Juno is struggling with is one that I struggle with all the time. With all the divorce and cheating in the world today, is it possible for monogamy to still exist? Is it possible to find a forever kind of love, or are we all just fooling ourselves?:

Juno MacGuff: I'm losing my faith in humanity.
Mac MacGuff: Think you can narrow it down for me?
Juno MacGuff: I guess I wonder sometimes if people ever stay together for good.
Mac MacGuff: You mean like couples?
Juno MacGuff: Yeah, like people in love.
Mac MacGuff: Are you having boy troubles?
Juno MacGuff: Dad, it's not about that. I just need to know if it's possible for two people to stay happy together forever, or at least for a few years.
Mac MacGuff: It's not easy, that's for sure. Now, I may not have the best track record in the world, but I have been with your stepmother for 10 years now and I'm proud to say that we're very happy. In my opinion, the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person will still think the sun shines out your ass. That's the kind of person that's worth sticking with.

(Reading it in words kind of dumbs down the conversation. In the movie, I think it's the best part.)

I guess I'm just kind of scared. I see an end that has become so common in our society that I'd be too naive to ignore it. And then I wonder to myself if it's worth starting a relationship at all. I don't want to fool myself into thinking that it's possible for me to have something that is impossible to have.

But if there is one thing in this world that I could prove society wrong about.... it would be "love".

On a side note, I'm running 4 miles consistantly. WHAT?!?! I know, right! Me of all people is actually running 4 miles. I know it's not much, but for me, it's a big deal. Just thought it was blog worthy.

CLOSING THOUGHT: Celtics and Lebron??? Sweet! You can take the girl out of Ohio, but Ohio keeps hunting her down. :-D
